Exploring High-Temperature Glazes in Jingdezhen
69 Surfaces Through Practice and Experimentation
Patterned glazes have been developed in Jingdezhen over hundreds of years. During firing, the glaze naturally flows, gathers, and separates, creating unpredictable spots and patterns. Because of this, every piece becomes unique. Since the Ming and Qing dynasties, Chinese color glazes have continued to evolve. Historical records mention more than fifty traditional glaze colors, and today, more than one hundred glaze materials are available in Jingdezhen’s ceramic market.
