Problem for Visa on-arrival
Visitors from Japan, Mongolia and Singapore are allowed to stay in China for 14-30 days without any Visa, which is called visa on arrival. However, it is impossible to convert visa-on-arrival into a residence permit here in China. Therefore, students should NOT come to China this way, otherwise they might have to go back to their home country and apply for a new visa.
Pay Attn. to Visa issue date and validity
Overseas students should enter or leave the country within the period of validity of their residence permits. Overseas students with F visas who plan to depart the country temporarily should note whether their F visas allow multiple entries. If not, the F visa will be voided on departure, and will create troubles for returning to China. Therefore, before departing, students should complete the appropriate forms to modify their F visas. Please do not enter China too early so as to prevent your student visa from expiring before your study begins. For more information, visit the official china embassy website.
