2025 Jingdezhen Ceramic Fair & 1819 Carnival

Q&A: 2025 Jingdezhen International Ceramic Fair & 1819 Ceramic Carnival

Q1: When will the 2025 Jingdezhen International Ceramic Fair be held?
A: The 2025 Jingdezhen International Ceramic Fair is coming soon!
And this year, for the first time, Jingdezhen will also hold the 1819 Ceramic Carnival.
Both events take place in Jingdezhen, China, from October 18th to 22nd, lasting for five days in total.
In this video, I’ll share some of the most frequently asked questions in a Q&A format —as a friendly guide for anyone planning to visit Jingdezhen during the carnival.
If you ever plan to attend the annual Ceramic Fair, this information will be really helpful too.

Q2: Who organizes the Jingdezhen International Ceramic Fair?
A: The fair is organized by the Jingdezhen Municipal Government. It’s not just a commercial exhibition like many overseas fairs that mainly focus on product sales.

The Jingdezhen Ceramic Fair highlights ceramic culture, artistic displays, industrial achievements, and history —making it a comprehensive event that goes far beyond selling products.

Q3: What exactly is the 1819 Ceramic Carnival? And why is it called “1819”?
A: The 1819 Ceramic Carnival* is a new outdoor cultural event designed to go hand-in-hand with the Ceramic Fair.

It’s centered around ceramic culture and aims to create a fun, festive atmosphere across the city.
The “18” represents October 18th, the opening day of the event.
The “19” in Chinese sounds like “forever” — symbolizing longevity and continuity.

So, “1819” not only sounds catchy but also carries the wish that this carnival will continue for many years to come.

Q4: What are the main highlights of the 1819 Ceramic Carnival?
A: Since this is the first year of the Ceramic Carnival, there are some brand-new features — the biggest one being the float parade.

There will be 13 beautifully designed floats, each representing a different city from around the world, blending local culture with ceramic art.

The parade route starts at TBC Expo, passes by the Ceramic Museum, Imperial Kiln Museum, and TaoXiChuan Ceramic Avenue, and finally ends at Sanbao Village — all of which are iconic landmarks of Jingdezhen.

The goal is to expand the fair from a single exhibition venue into a city-wide celebration, where both locals and visitors can join the festivities.
In addition, the event will host the Jingdezhen Ceramic Grand Awards,
where ceramic artists from all over the world will display their works in Sanbao Village, and the best pieces will receive official awards.

Q5: How is this year’s carnival different in scale from previous years?
A: This year’s event is much larger in scale.
More than 30 international brands are participating, not just Chinese ones.
Over 1,000 international guests and 15 ambassadors from different countries have been invited.
Interestingly, the official press conference wasn’t held in Jingdezhen — it took place in Shanghai,
showing the organizers’ ambition to expand the event’s national and global reach.
Also, during the carnival, Jingdezhen and Faenza, Italy, signed a sister city agreement
strengthening their friendship through ceramic culture.

Q6: What safety and traffic control measures are in place for the carnival?
A: The carnival runs from October 17th to 22nd, for five consecutive days.
To make sure the float parade goes smoothly, the city has introduced traffic control along the parade route. Main roads like Yingbin Avenue, Zhushan Bridge, Zhushan Avenue, and SanBao Road**
will have temporary restrictions, with traffic diversion and safety measures in place
to ensure everything runs safely and efficiently.

Q7: Is the 1819 Ceramic Carnival the same as the TaoXiChuan Autumn Art Fair?
A: No, they’re not the same.
The 1819 Ceramic Carnival is a separate event organized by the city government, China National Light Industry Council, held together with the International Ceramic Fair.
The TaoXiChuan Spring & Autumn Art Fair* is hosted by TaoXiChuan Cultural Tourism Group every year.
It’s divided into spring and autumn sessions. The Autumn Art Fair lasts only three days, from October 17th to 19th. So, the two events are completely independent.

Q8: If I plan to visit the Ceramic Fair, how should I plan my time? How are the exhibition halls arranged?
A: The Jingdezhen Ceramic Fair is held at TBC Expo, covering 140,000 square meters with 12 exhibition zones and 500 exhibitors from both China and abroad.
The area is huge — it’s almost impossible to visit everything in a single day.
That’s why the fair runs for five days in total.

Q9: What’s the difference between the three main exhibition halls?
A: Let me explain them one by one.

Hall 1:
This hall focuses on **local Jingdezhen brands. You’ll see stylish and artistic booths from well-known local enterprises, art kilns, ceramic colleges, and city brand showcases. It’s basically the “Jingdezhen Pavilion” — representing the city’s craftsmanship and design.

Hall 2:
Here you’ll find both **international brands and domestic city pavilions. The international section includes brands from Italy, Germany, Russia, Japan, and South Korea, over 30 global ceramic companies in total.

If you’re interested in Chinese ceramics from outside Jingdezhen, you’ll find them here too — from places like Tangshan, Ruzhou, Pingdingshan, Shangyu, Tongchuan, Handan, Suzhou, and Dehua. This is also the area for daily-use ceramics, so if you’re looking for tableware, teapots, or mass-produced ceramic products, you’ll want to spend time in Hall 2.

Hall 3:
This is a comprehensive hall, mostly featuring **individual creators, small factories, ceramic equipment suppliers, and raw material companies. You’ll also find intangible heritage workshops — like traditional blue-and-white painting, wheel throwing, and other creative handmade crafts. If you want to discover small studios or independent ceramic artists, Hall 3 is definitely the place to go.
