How to Travel from Shanghai to Jingdezhen by High-Speed Train

In this video, I’ll show you how to travel from Shanghai to Jingdezhen by high-speed train. Many international artists come to Jingdezhen for residency, business, or study, and Shanghai is the main international gateway into China. So how do you get from Shanghai to Jingdezhen?

Taking the high-speed train is a money-saving fast option. The journey takes about 3.5 to 4 hours, and you can enjoy beautiful scenery along the way, including passing by Hangzhou and Huangshan — two famous travel destinations. There are about 8 to 10 trains from Shanghai to Jingdezhen every day, offering plenty of departure times.

Today is November 10th, and I’m departing from Shanghai South Railway Station. Follow along as I show you the route and the landscapes during the trip. Traveling by train is comfortable, and it gives you a chance to see China’s mountains and countryside up close.

If you arrive at Shanghai Pudong International Airport, you can take either a taxi or the metro to Shanghai South Station.
The metro route is: Pudong Airport → Line 2 → transfer to Line 10 → transfer to Line 1 → Shanghai South Railway Station.
All metro announcements are bilingual in Chinese and English, so it’s easy to follow.

However, the metro has one disadvantage — some transfer stations only have stairs. If you’re carrying heavy luggage, the journey can be tiring. The more convenient option is taking a taxi directly from the airport to Shanghai South Station. The fare is around 150–200 RMB, faster and luggage-friendly.

One important reminder: Shanghai has three completely different train stations:

  1. Shanghai Railway Station
  2. Shanghai South Railway Station
  3. Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station

Make sure you go to the correct station listed on your ticket.

When you arrive in Jingdezhen, note that there are also two stations:

1.Jingdezhen Station (old station)— rarely used now
2.Jingdezhen North Station — this is where all travelers arrive

When exiting Jingdezhen North Station, use the South Exit, not the North Exit, to reach the city center.

I hope this short guide helps you travel smoothly from Shanghai to Jingdezhen. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment. Thanks for watching!
