Artists-in-Residence Program in China

The Artists-in-Residence Program in JingDeZhen aims to support the growth and development of both emerging and established visual artists, fostering their creative, intellectual, and professional advancement. We offer residencies and assistance in various artistic disciplines such as ceramics, new media, photography, furniture design, metal design, woodworking, painting, drawing, printmaking, and sculpture. By providing access to our well-equipped facilities and studios, artists can work without the distractions of daily life. They also have the opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary projects within a vibrant community of fellow artists, while receiving valuable feedback from renowned visiting artists and critics. The JDZ environment has been carefully designed to facilitate artists in their artistic production.

Cost and Budget

The residency program is specifically designed to encourage artists to take risks and explore new projects and ideas. Residents will be provided with accommodation, studio space, and meals at reasonable costs. The average cost for housing and meals for a four-week stay in JDZ China is $700 USD, which does not include the cost of using studio space, tools, and materials, which will be provided upon inquiry. Residencies are available throughout the year, with each stay lasting four weeks. If desired, artists have the option to extend their visa for continuous stay in China. The application window for our 2024 Artists-in-Residence program is open year-round.

Our artists-in-residence program is mainly based in San Bao International Ceramics Valley . Most freelancing artists like to choose to live in Sanbao International Ceramic Art Village.

Five to Ten images of work completed within the past three years including: images (up to 5MB each) and/or video (2 mins up to 250MB each). You may include external links or websites or pdfs.
