Absolutely! We encourage you to take advantage of your time in China. You can join our weekend trips to explore more of Jingdezhen, and during vacations like Chinese New Year or long weekends, you have the opportunity to visit other parts of China. To save money, we recommend optional city tours to Hangzhou and Shanghai, as Jingdezhen is located along the travel route in eastern China.

Christmas isn't an official holiday in China, so we do have lessons. However, you are welcome to return home whenever you wish.

Living costs in smaller cities like Jingdezhen are incredibly affordable. Daily expenses for housing in Jingdezhen are minimal. While larger cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hangzhou are comparatively more expensive, they are still more affordable than many other major cities around the world. Generally speaking, shopping prices stay at same level, but housing costs can be high in big cities.

Please note that each internship option may have different skill requirements, resources, and legal compliance. Our staff will assist you in carefully considering your options and researching the requirements while you are in Jingdezhen. Part-time work in Jingdezhen is based on your skills, abilities, and experience. Payment is usually based on working hours and paid weekly or monthly. However, please be aware that income from internships is not guaranteed or stable enough to cover all your expenses in China.

Achieving fluency in Chinese is possible but requires effort, dedication, and a strong desire to learn. Simply taking a 36-week Chinese course does not guarantee fluency. You will need to actively engage, converse, possibly stay in a homestay, study diligently, make friends, and fully immerse yourself in the language.

Our full Immersion Gap Year program is based in Jingdezhen, China. While there are optional city tours to Shanghai and Hangzhou, all the courses, accommodation, and part-time internships are in Jingdezhen.

Most classes are conducted in small groups with an average of three or fewer students, with a maximum of six. These small class sizes allow for close bonds to form between teachers and students. Classes run from Monday to Friday, with four hours of instruction per day, totaling 20 hours per week.

The Chinese Language Gap Year programs usually span two semesters. Each semester is 18 weeks long, providing a total of 36 weeks of Chinese study. The program can be extended if you wish to study for a longer period.

Tuition fees average around 22,500 CNY per semester, excluding accommodation and meals. Please note that pricing may vary depending on the duration of the Immersion Programs (3 months or 6 months).

You will enter through Shanghai PVG CHINA airport. We provide airport pick-up service and will drop you off at your apartment in Jingdezhen, China.

Homestays or furnished apartments do not include cooked meals in their fees. However, cooked meals can be provided separately for an additional cost. If you have specific dietary requirements, such as being vegetarian or vegan, please inform us in advance, and we will accommodate your needs.

There are no specific language requirements to join the program. However, having some basic knowledge of the Chinese language can be beneficial and enhance your overall experience.

The program is open to individuals of ages 12-year-old and up. Whether you are a recent high school graduate, a college student, or a working professional looking to take a break, you are welcome to apply for the Gap Year program.

While the program itself does not offer academic credits, we can provide you with documentation and a certificate of completion. You may be able to arrange credit transfer with your home institution or discuss the possibility with your academic advisor.

Yes, the program includes various cultural immersion activities to enhance your understanding of Chinese culture. These activities may include traditional art workshops, visits to local historical sites, participation in festivals, and interactions with the local community.

Health insurance is not included in the program fees. It is highly recommended that you have valid health insurance coverage for the duration of your stay in China. You may need to arrange for your own health insurance or inquire about options available in your home country.
